The 2013 Valley All-Star game will be the first (hopefully annual) showing of the top 20 HS basketball players from the Annapolis Valley getting their chance to showcase their skills among all the great players.

The event will be held at Central Kings Rural High School in Cambridge Station, NS and will officially be on March 9, 2013.

All proceeds (100% of profits) from this event will be going directly to the KidSport foundation. For the most part, all of the players who will be participating in this event have been given the opportunity to play organized sport their entire life and that is why they compete at such a high level now. It is the goal of this game to have those athletes help us in giving every kid in Nova Scotia that same opportunity regardless of their family's financial situation, through KidSport.

How will the money be raised?

- Event Sponsorship

- Competition Sponsors

- Gold/Silver/Bronze Sponsors

- Day passes ($5)

- All-Star game passes ($3)

- Canteen ran by volunteers

Multiple sponsors are already being actively pursued, but if anyone knows of someone who would be interested in providing a competition or team sponsor please contact me with their information via the "CONTACT" page.

***Any money contributed to the event by sponsors will first go to pay the referees of the all-star game and to pay for the janitorial fees involved with using the gym. Anything beyond those two fees (our only costs), will be considered a profit and be presented to KidSport immediately following the event.

The different events that will compose the 2013 festivities include:

- Shooting Stars Challenge

        - One team per school composed of one (1) current boys team player, one (1) current girls team player,

and one (1) former graduate of the school's team (boy or girl) will be selected by each school's coach.

        - Teams will be required to make shots from assigned positions while timed. The two lowest times

will advance to the final and square off for the win.

- Point Guard Skills Competition

         - One (1) guard from each school

         - Guards will speed through a course of dribbling, passing, and shooting, aiming for the lowest time

possible to complete the course. Fastest two advance to the final to battle it out.

- 3 Point Shootout

          - One (1) player from each school.

          - Players will shoot for 1:00 minute from a maximum of five (5) ball racks, each containing four (4)

regular balls and one (1) money ball.

           - The top two scores out of 30 points will each shoot for another 1:00 minute in the final.

(All ties will be settled by a one rack, 10 second shootout)

- Dunk Contest

            - All dunks are scored by a panel of five (5) judges on a scale of 1-10 with a maximum score of 50.

            - The first round will consist of two (2) dunks per participant. The two (2) participants with the highest

combined score of their two (2) dunks will advance to the final round, where each finalist will get one

dunk. The highest final round score will be named champion.

             - Any ties in the first round will be broken by which dunker had the highest score on a single dunk.

             - A tie in the final round will be settled by a second dunk for each competitor.

- Official All-Star Game 2013

             - Two (2) teams of 10 players each (See ROSTERS page for full details of player and coach selection).

             - Standard NSSAF basketball rules and regulations with the exception of 12 minute quarters rather

than 10 minutes to allow all the all-stars maximum playing time (5 minute overtime).
